Infra-red filters turns your torch/lamp into a light source which emits mostly infra-red light – light that humans and most animals cannot see, but night vision can detect. They are mainly used with Digital Night vision Scopes, Traditional image-intensifier night vision or IR sensitive trail cameras.
How it works: the filter blocks most visible light and allows infra-red wavelengths through. To your naked eye, the beam appears very dim or invisible, but through a vision optic, the area appears illuminated.
Common uses: Stealth Hunting (animals are much less likely to notice IR illumination, gives you a longer identification range with night vision optics and you can scan fields or woods without visible white light.

Coloured filters are commonly used on hunting lights for several reasons, but mainly to reduce the chance of alarming animals and to improve visibility in certain conditions.
