How the Syndicate Works

The Shooting SH Syndicate operates through two main types of stalking opportunities, giving members flexibility depending on their experience and preferences.

The first part of the syndicate is made up of land that the syndicate directly leases from farmers and landowners.

The second part of the syndicate provides access to discounted stalking opportunities with experienced estate deer managers across the UK.

Leased Stalking

Members can book stalking outings on ground directly leased by the syndicate from farmers and landowners.

On these areas, members organise their own outings, and any deer harvested belong to the stalker.

Each piece of ground includes a dedicated information page in the members area with maps, access points, parking locations, highseats and ground rules.

Subsidised Stalking

The syndicate also works with professional deer managers and estates across the UK, giving members access to guided stalking at discounted rates.

Each location includes information on the host, pricing and ground rules, and some outings may qualify for partial rebates through the syndicate.

This allows members to gain experience while stalking well-managed ground with knowledgeable hosts.

Benefits of Joining the Syndicate

Syndicate Community

Join a network of like-minded deer stalkers who share knowledge, experiences and opportunities. Members are part of an active WhatsApp group used to discuss outings, equipment, deer activity and general stalking chat.

Member Discounts

Syndicate members receive exclusive discounts on products from A1 Decoy, helping you save on optics, stalking equipment and essential kit used in the field.

Training & Events

The syndicate works with experienced mentors who run DSC/PDS1 training, range days, butchery courses and mentoring stalks. These events help members build skills, gain qualifications and develop confidence in the field.

Meet The Founder

Bob Glynn, often known in the shooting community as “Woodcock Bob,” has been running the Shooting SH Deer Stalking Syndicate for over 25 years. With decades of hands-on experience across deer stalking, wildfowling, game shooting and pigeon shooting, Bob has built the syndicate around a strong reputation for ethical stalking, responsible deer management and practical fieldcraft.

Over the years Bob has helped stalkers at every level — from complete beginners to experienced riflemen — developing their skills and confidence in the field. His long-standing relationships with farmers, landowners and estates across the UK are what allow the syndicate to offer members genuine stalking opportunities on well-managed ground.

Bob remains closely involved in the day-to-day running of the syndicate and is always happy to speak with prospective members who want to learn more about joining.

FAQs

Can I take a guest?

Members may bring a guest once per year, subject to approval from the Head Office (HO).

The guest must use the member’s rifle allocation for that outing and may share the member’s rifle where appropriate. The member must also ensure they have a dated letter confirming permission for their spouse, friend or relative to shoot under their membership for that day.

There is no additional fee for a guest outing, however this is offered on a trust basis and members are expected to follow the syndicate rules.

Do I need my own rifle and equipment?

Not necessarily. Some guided stalks can be conducted using estate rifles provided by the host deer manager.

What species of deer can be stalked?

Syndicate members have access to stalking opportunities for all 6 UK deer species.

On syndicate leased ground, members can stalk Roe, Muntjac, Sika and Red deer.

Through subsidised stalking opportunities, members can also access ground holding Fallow deer and Chinese Water Deer.

Species availability will depend on the ground, season and the type of outing booked.

Can beginners join the Syndicate?

Yes. The syndicate welcomes both experienced stalkers and those new to deer stalking. Guided stalks with experienced deer managers help new members build knowledge and experience. Many use the syndicate to gain practical stalking experience before or after completing qualifications such as DSC1 or PDS1.

Do I need a firearms licence (FAC) to join?

No. You can join the syndicate before you receive your FAC. Members waiting for their licence can still attend guided stalks with estate rifles and gain experience while going through the application process.

How do I book a stalking outing?

Members log into the syndicate website, choose the ground they want to stalk and book an available date using the calendar system.

What happens to deer taken on leased ground?

Any deer harvested on syndicate leased ground belongs to the member.

How do the subsidised stalks work?

The syndicate has partnerships with estate deer managers who offer guided stalking opportunities to members at discounted rates.

Some of these outings may qualify for partial rebates depending on the arrangement with the host.

How do I know the rules for each piece of ground?

Every stalking area has its own information page in the members area, explaining access, parking, highseat locations, rules and management guidance.
